With a total investment of over 4 billion RMB, its iconic design—resembling lotus leaves and water droplets—embodies the graceful charm of Jiangnan’s water towns and has become a new symbol of the city.
Inside the theatre, the Opera Hall and Drama Hall are equipped with world-class lighting design systems. Ian Laser took on the critical role of lighting system designer for this flagship project, leveraging its extensive industry experience and cutting-edge technology.
Using the latest S40 "Sword" Indoor Scanning Series, Ian Laser seamlessly blended digital light and shadow technologies with stage performance. This system boasts ultra-precise positioning, vivid color rendering, and an advanced control platform capable of millisecond-level response and multi-dimensional dynamic transitions.
In productions of classics like Turandot and Carmen, the lighting system showcased exceptional artistic expression: beams cut through the darkness like blades, while color transitions flowed as smoothly as water. Paired with the narrative progression, the lighting created an immersive audiovisual experience for the audience.
According to the theatre’s technical director, this system not only meets the demands of traditional stage performances but also supports cutting-edge formats such as multimedia interactive shows and immersive theatre, continuously pushing the boundaries of the performing arts.
