On New Year’s Eve 2018, Zhengzhou’s new city landmark—the Millennium Tower (commonly known as the “Big Corn”), located by Ruyi Lake in Zhengdong New District—lit up the skyline with dazzling brilliance.
The celebration featured a spectacular light and laser show designed by Ian Laser , utilizing their S30 Outdoor Scanning Series Laser System. Through laser projection and holographic visuals, the event created a captivating atmosphere that drew tens of thousands of residents to ring in the new year together.
As midnight approached, a countdown began and words such as “Happy New Year,” “Beautiful Zhengzhou,” and “Thumbs Up for Zhengzhou” were projected across the tower’s surface. At the stroke of midnight, the crowd joined in singing “Ode to the Motherland”, marking the arrival of 2018 in a spirit of unity and celebration.
